Water Quality
EPA water quality assessments are based on the chemical,
physical, and biological integrity of the river. There is excessive pathogen
loading and the river is also threatened by nutrient loading and habitat degradation.
Further, there is rapidly changing land cover that has altered the hydrology. FLOW
recommends overcoming the prevailing situation in this section of the river by
establishing action partners to help restoration of channel, floodplane and
vegetation cover. Flow also lays stress on involvement of Government and Land
policy for the preservation and restoration of human health and riparian
habitat.
